Materials and Pattern Information

Skills needed:  Intermediate

Yarn requirements:

All parts are made with worsted weight 100% acrylic yarn. It is really up to you what you would like to use for colors. When choosing yarn types, just make sure you use yarns with similar washing instructions. You will not need an entire skein of yarn from any of the colors needed. So, this pattern works great with left over skeins of yarn.

I used the following yarn brands to obtain the pattern:

Super Saver Yarn –Red Heart

- #0312 Black / #0672 Spring Green / #849 Olympic Blue
- 7 ounces - 363 Yards
- Coats & Clark

Hooks: The hook size used to obtain this pattern was a 3.50 mm hook.

The gauge is 6 stitches and 5 rows = 1 inch.

Other Materials Needed:

• Poly Fil Fiber

• Yarn Needle

• Scissors

Finished size:

The finished size of your amigurumi goes hand in hand with the yarn and hook you choose. However using a 3.50 mm hook, the finished doll will be roughly 2 inches tall, 3.5 inches wide, and 3.5 inches long.

Final Tip:

Use sewing pins to hold the body parts together to gauge where each part should be attached and make sure each piece is evenly spaced.

Place a marker at the end of each row to keep track of your stitches. Holes in your work can be avoided by using old bits of yarn instead of plastic markers. It is important to use a hook size that is comfortable for you and will still give you tight stitches. If you find your tension to be very loose try using a hook size smaller. It is important to make tight stitches in order to keep a stiff form.

  7. At the end of round 26 I am 1 stitch needed shy. At the end of row 25 the stitch count is 10 but the instructions say to decrease 2 times in row 26 so the stitch count should be 8 right? Or am I just not getting it? I'm trying to make this for a gift for someone that REALLY loves Seahorses for a baby mobile and she's due soon so if you could write me back soon I'd REALLY appreciate it, Thank You!!
